Lapde has been a licensed professional counselor since 2010. She specializes in identity, relationship issues, and anxiety. She strives to create a safe place to better understand why you do what you do or why you feel the way you feel. She also enjoys supervising graduate students and other clinicians in the field.


Background

Lapde was born and raised in southern Illinois near St. Louis. She moved to Philadelphia after college where she worked and completed graduate school. Then, she relocated to Connecticut, started the practice, and now resides in Fairfield with her husband and three kids.

Her parents are from Hong Kong, where she tries to visit when possible. Lapde is pronounced “lap-dee” and means virtuous. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, going to the beach, doing artwork, and trying new restaurants.

Present: Graduate Student Site Supervisor for Northwestern and Fairfield University

  • Lapde enjoys supervising and mentoring other clinicians. While different than being a therapist, being able to have an impact and introduce proper therapeutic techniques to newer clinicians is highly rewarding. She has a direct yet supportive supervision style, is open to feedback, and wants clinicians to feel supported. “It is a privilege and honor to help guide and mentor other clinicians in the field.”

Present: Advisory Board at Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT

  • Lapde serves as a member of the advisory board for the counseling department at Fairfield University to help grow, shape, and improve their graduate program.

Past: Adjunct Professor at Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT

  • Lapde worked at Fairfield University as an adjunct professor teaching graduate level counseling skills and relationships course. She enjoyed working with students and helping them navigate the field.

Past: Clinician at Connecticut Renaissance in Norwalk, CT

  • She worked as a clinician in an outpatient dual diagnosis treatment facility in Norwalk and Stamford, Connecticut. She created an adolescent intensive outpatient program there, held weekly family education groups and workshops, ran a women’s anger management group, and led a men’s intensive outpatient group.

  • For a short while, Lapde worked as a counselor in a group practice in Fairfield, Connecticut. She saw adults for individual counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling. The philosophy at Collaborative Counseling Group was built upon creating a network of services that support the most comprehensive care to each client.

Past: Mental Health Therapist at Women’s Therapy Center in Philadelphia, PA

  • While in Philadelphia, Lapde worked at a non-profit group practice called Women’s Therapy Center (now renamed as Psychotherapy Center of Philadelphia). There, she provided low-cost, quality therapy services to women in Philadelphia. Her work focused on empowering women and helping them create a voice to express themselves and feel better about who they are.

Past: Young Adult Addictions Counselor at Rehab After Work in Paoli, PA

  • In addition, Lapde use to be a young adult addictions counselor at Rehab After Work in Paoli, Pennsylvania. She ran an intensive outpatient program for young adults who were suffering from chemical dependency. She also ran a weekly family education group, aftercare relapse prevention group, addiction awareness group, and conducted evaluations and drug and alcohol assessments.
