Marie Damato, Intern

Marie believes in creating a supportive, strengths-focused space grounded in positivity and hope where each individual feels heard, respected, and valued.

Marie is currently a graduate student at Northwestern University, pursuing a master’s degree in counseling and a license in professional counseling. She views her work as an opportunity to support others through life’s challenges and transitions, fostering well-being through a compassionate and collaborative environment. Her approach emphasizes the importance of self-care, emotional awareness, and creating trusted space for individuals to fully express themselves.

Before transitioning into this field, Marie graduated from Lehigh University with a focus on finance and psychology and began her career in the corporate world, specializing in marketing. She has a professional background in marketing research and strategy, working both within organizations and running her own business. This career shift to counseling reflects a long-standing commitment to supporting the well-being of others—something she has been dedicated to through volunteer work since her teenage years.

Marie brings both life experience and academic training to her counseling work. She takes a strengths-based, progress-oriented approach, helping clients build resilience, gain insight, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

Outside of her professional work, Marie enjoys spending time with family and friends, being with pets, exercising, reading, watching movies, and exploring new foods as a self-described foodie.

Marie sees individuals for therapy both in person and virtually. She is also on the intake team where she is responsible for scheduling new clients and conducting intake assessments to match clients with clinicians. She accepts most major insurances and has evening and weekend availability.
